Transitioning from summer to fall is bittersweet. While I love the fancy free days of summer, I do appreciate the beauty of fall and the purification of winter. It’s a time for old things to die to make room for new life and rejuvenation.
The changing of the season also leads way to wardrobe resurrection. Putting tank tops and sun dresses away doesn’t hurt so bad once I’ve pulled the bin marked “Kim’s Winter Clothes” from storage. Finding those “end of season” clearance items I purchased back in March or that timeless sweater I love gives me life! It’s the next best thing to going on a shopping spree, only all it costs is a little time and energy.
Above right, is a photo from December 2016 of me wearing a lace dress purchased from Forever 21 with a black bodysuit and black leather riding boots I purchased at an awesome discount from Dillards.
It was my “44th Presidential Birthday” and I felt like being bold and making a statement by bearing it all in a way I’d never guessed I would, especially since becoming a “plus size” woman. It turned out to be a truly liberating experience for myself and for other women around me that witnessed how it liberated me. Believe it or not, I truly felt more comfortable revealing my body than I do when trying to cover it up. It was a “what you see is what you get” moment that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Pictured above left, is a photo from just a few weeks ago. This is the “remix” of the same lace dress with a simple light colored slip dress, and tan suede boots purchased from Dillards as well.
